Kurt Russell – that’s right, Snake Plissken himself – is eyeing a role in the sixth sequel to The Fast and the Furious, to be directed by James Wan (The Conjuring). But the site also adds that the Escape from New York star wasn’t the first choice for the as-yet unknown role – apparently, it was offered to none other than Denzel Washington, which proves how big the role will probably be in film #7.
Of course, Washington declined so that leaves us with Russell, who will join returning cast members Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson and other new additions Ronda Rousey, Tony Jaa and, most significantly (we say that because he made a surprise cameo in an after-credits scene in Fast and Furious 6), Jason Statham who will most likely play the main villain this time round.
Fast and Furious 7 will continue on from that cliff-hanger tease, and is reported to be once more set in Los Angeles (despite the production eyeing an Atlanta shoot). The film has a pencilled-in release date of July 2014.
