WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

John Shaft Jr. (Usher) – known as JJ – is the latest in a long family line of Shafts, after his estranged father John Shaft II (Jackson) and his grandfather, the legendary detective John Shaft (Roundtree). A cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, JJ is left rocked by the untimely death of his best friend, and finds himself calling upon the help of his family to solve the case and find those responsible…

The family tree runs smooth as we meet the latest in a long line of John Shafts, in a sequel/reboot that incorporates several generations including Samuel L. Jackson – reprising his role from the 2000 reboot – and the original legend himself, Richard Roundtree.
