WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 2005, convict Brian Nichols (Oyelowo) escapes from an Atlanta courthouse, murdering a judge and several other people in the process. While avoiding the authorities, he holds a woman – single mother and recovering drug addict Ashley Smith (Mara) – hostage in her own home. To get by, Smith reads Nichols a section from Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life, which inspires the criminal to seek redemption…
