WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Jared (Hedges) is the 19-year-old son of Baptist pastor Marshall (Crowe), but when he is outed as gay to his father and mother (Kidman), he is given an ultimatum; either attend a conversion therapy program, or be permanently exiled from his faith and shunned by his friends and family. As he reluctantly attends the program, run by the ruthless Victor Sykes (Edgerton), Jared begins to fight back against its harmful teachings and attempt to find his true voice whilst being forced to question his identity…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Joel Edgerton’s second film as writer and director sees him tackling the devastating topic of gay conversion therapy, and manages to make an extremely compelling, and heavily emotional, drama led by some standout performances by Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Edgerton himself.
